I started making the Crochet Pokeball Case and accompanying Pokemon Footbags (hacky sacks) in 2016 after my son told me that Pokemon was releasing a new game that year. He asked me if I could make a hacky sack that looked like a Pokemon and I ended up making around five! But without the case, it didn’t make much sense.
I have released this pattern for sale ($1.99) here: https://lydiahawk.com/product/pattern-crochet-pokeball-earpods-keychain/
I also made a Paper Maché Tutorial: https://youtu.be/SvVff6O2_4k
And I think the following would make a complimentary addition to the Pokeball Case with Paper Maché inserts by extending the inside to accomodate the inserts.
POKEBALL CASE TOP CONTINUED
Rnd9: Instead of binding off sl st into mk sp, ch1, pl mk (30)
Rnd10: in back loops only sc30, sl st into mk sp, ch1, pl mk (30) [You can switch back to Color A at end of this round if you want the inside to match the outside, otherwise continue with Color B]
* Pause here to make and place the Button to the Case Top. * Place your paper maché half inside the Case Top. The remaining rounds will secure it inside.
Rnd11 – 13: in both loops sc30, sl st into mk sp, ch1, pl mk (30)
* Pause here to weave in ends.
Rnd14: *sc3, sc2tog*, repeat from * to * to end, sl st into mk sp, ch 1, pl mk (24)
Rnd15: *sc2, sc2tog*, repeat from * to * to end, sl st into mk sp, ch 1, pl mk (18)
Rnd16: *sc1, sc2tog*, repeat from * to * to end, sl st into mk sp, BO
* Weave in end. * Cut a long piece of Color B and attach TOP and BOTTOM along back seam area that spans approximately 6 stitches where the seams meet. Make it nice and sturdy, then weave in ends.
REPEAT FOR CASE BOTTOM USING COLOR C & MAKING AND ATTACHING BUTTON RING
